Fillers

Injectable fillers are essentially gels that contain hyaluronic acid (HA). These smooth, colorless gels are injected into your skin at varying depths.

Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in your skin, responsible for maintaining its elasticity, suppleness, and volume. Aging can cause levels of HA to deplete, which is one of the reasons why you develop wrinkles, creases and sagging. An injectable filler treatment requires just a few minutes to complete at my office. You'll see immediate improvement with little recovery time.

Botox

Botox injections are noted primarily for the ability to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles. They're also used to treat conditions such as neck spasms (cervical dystonia), excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), an overactive bladder, and lazy eye. Botox injections may also help prevent chronic migraines.

Botox injections use a toxin called onobotulinumtoxinA to temporarily prevent a muscle from moving. This toxin is produced by the microbe that causes botulism, a type of food poisoning.

Botox was the first drug to use botulinum toxin. Other products now include abobotulinumtoxinA (Dysport), rimabotulinumtoxinB (Myobloc), and incobotulinumtoxinA (Xeomin). Each is a little different, particularly when it comes to dosage units, so they aren't interchangeable.

Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, happens when a person sweats more than usual. Sweating is necessary to cool our bodies down, but someone who has hyperhidrosis experiences excessive sweating even when the body does not need to be cooled.

Hyperhidrosis sufferers tend to sweat excessively in one or two locations, such as palms, feet, underarms, or head, while the rest of their body remains dry. According to the International Hyperhidrosis Association, approximately 2.8 percent of Americans are affected by hyperhidrosis.

Double Chin

A double chin occurs when a subcutaneous sheet of fat around your neck sags and causes a wrinkle. Many individuals have a hereditary predisposition to them. These factors may combine to leave you with a double chin, but the major cause of a double chin is excess body fat. Some people carry fat on the chin more easily than anywhere else, and obesity and double chins go hand in hand.
